Sneezing? Allergies? Cold and Flu? Constant Dusting? Dust Bunnies? Clothes Dryer Taking Longer to Dry Clothes?

It’s probably time to clean your air ducts.

Have you ever wondered what’s inside of your ductwork? Over time household dust and dirt build up on the inside of your duct system along with a host of other nasty things:

• Pet hair and dander

• Dead skin from your family or the previous homeowners (gross right?)

• Mold and mildew growth

• Cigarette and cigar smoke

• Pollen, dust mites and other allergens

• Debris from renovation or construction projects

Air duct and dryer vent cleaning is an essential maintenance item for your home just like vacuuming and dusting. We

recommend it every 3‐5 years.

Not All Duct Cleaning Companies are Created Equally…

When looking for the right company to clean your duct system, why not chose one that knows duct systems better than anyone; the ones who build them and install them. At Mechanical Heating & Cooling we do things differently than most duct cleaners because we know how duct systems work. we know what it takes to get every nook and cranny of the system clean. You wouldn’t want us cleaning your carpets because we’re not experts in that industry. So why would you want carpet cleaners cleaning your ductwork.

Our Process:

• We start by greeting you at the door with our shoe covers and drop cloths in hand. We respect your home.

• We do a walk-through of the home with you to inspect the work area and make sure that you have a complete understanding of the process. In our Platinum option, we remove all of the registers

• In our Platinum option, we remove all of the registers and vent covers to ensure a proper cleaning of the register and duct behind it. 99% of other companies skip this important step because it’s easier to drill holes in your ducts and do this from the basement, but it does not get the register or the duct behind it as clean. We do offer this as our Gold option.

• We hook up a super strong duct vacuum to the main ducts in the basement. We use a portable machine so that doors to not have to remain open during the process. Our machine is as strong as a truck mounted machine.

• We then insert a high-pressure air whip and/or brush system into each vent one at a time and blast away the dirt and debris which is collected by our vacuum. This process is always captured with our video inspection camera so that you can at any time see what were cleaning and how clean were getting your duct system.

• We then repeat this process on the main ducts in the basement until every last possible spec of dust and debris is removed from your duct system and collected into our vacuum machine.

• After the duct system is cleaned we can also add duct sanitizer and deodorizer to your entire duct system which will treat any mold and mildew as well as treating odors in the duct system.

• After all, processes are completed we reinstall all the grills and registers as well as sealing the large holes in the main duct where the vacuum was installed.

We are the Detroit furnace maintenance team who cares about your continued home comfort. At Mechanical Heating and Cooling, we believe that prevention is the best way to ensure your furnace is running efficiently and to keep your home happy and healthy all year round. And what better way to prevent the need for emergency furnace repairs than to have your furnace regularly maintained by an experienced furnace maintenance professional. Read on to learn more about the Detroit furnace maintenance services offered by the Mechanical Heating and Cooling team.

Why do I need furnace maintenance?

Because Michigan winters can be so long and so cold, your furnace has to work really hard for a good chunk of the year at keeping your Detroit home at a comfortable temperature. The number of working parts in a furnace combined with the workload that your furnace is forced to endure tend to reduce the efficiency of your furnace over time. Having your furnace properly maintained by a Detroit furnace maintenance expert can not only improve the energy efficiency of your furnace and prevent the standard reduction in energy efficiency as furnaces age, but it can also improve the lifespan of our furnace significantly.

We will inspect, monitor, clean, and test different aspects of your furnace to ensure that it is functioning at its prime. This includes maintaining everything from your furnace’s heat exchanger and burners to your furnace filter and belt and even your thermostat. Our Detroit furnace maintenance experts have been ensuring furnaces are operating like new for decades, so you can rest assured that your furnace is in good hands.

Dryer Vent Cleaning

Clogged or dirty clothes dryer vents are one of the leading causes of house fires. Lint screens in clothes dryers are not a perfect seal inside the dryer and leak a small amount of lint into the dryer vent each time the dryer runs. The moisture in the exhaust allows the lint to build up inside the vent and eventually clogging it. The air flow becomes greatly reduced which causes excessive heat to build up in the vent pipe and the dryer, increasing the risk of fire.

One of the biggest returns you can see when it comes to your energy bills is that which comes from replacing your furnace. The average lifespan of a furnace is between 12 and 14 years, but once you get past the 10 year mark, it is definitely time to start looking for a new furnace. Older furnaces run less efficiently, costing you more on your energy bills, and they also do not have nearly the technologies that a newer unit will provide. Additionally, furnace repair and maintenance costs on older heating units can add up in a hurry, giving you all the more reasons to invest in a furnace replacement.

Should I Replace My Furnace?

There comes a time in every homeowner’s life when he asks himself this question. If you are considering replacing your furnace, there are a few things you can take into consideration such as the age of your current unit, a fluctuation in your gas or electric bills, and the cost of recent repair bills. If you are unsure as to whether or not your furnace needs replacing, read 3 Ways to Know You May Need a New Furnace or contact a Detroit HVAC contractor.
